About us
Hi! I'm Linda Helasmäki, a 31-year-old passionate dog enthusiast and hopefully future dog breeder from Nurmijärvi, Finland. I've owned grand bassets for 20 years now and the breed has been the right one for me from the start.
Our relatives have always had dogs, so I have spent my whole life with dogs. Finally, in the summer of 2005, we brought home our first dog, Lulu. That was the beginning of my story with the grand basset griffon vendeen and a whole new life.
With Lulu, I fell deeply in love with this breed and what a coincidence that the first breed I came across that ignited something so strong inside me. The grand basset griffon vendeen stole my heart right away. Currently at home I have two Swedish imports, Pepsi and Usva.
Dog shows are my biggest passion, but in recent years I have also become completely obsessed with Nosework and blood tracking. We also regularly do exercise with our dogs at home. I love being out in nature and we spend a lot of time on forest trails, and I also try to ensure that the dogs can run as much as possible in fenced areas.
In addition to dogs and dog sports, I enjoy photography and reading. I get to pursue photography both in my day job and as a part-time entrepreneur. In recent years, reading has once again become an important part of my everyday life, I especially love fantasy books. This passion will likely be reflected in the names of my future litters.
Many people have not been very surprised to hear about my breeding plans. For me, however, it has been a dream that only came true with the current dogs, as my two previous dogs were not suitable for breeding. So the idea of breeding has quietly crept into a big dream. The breed is truly dear to me, and its future worries me. We need more breeders, more cooperation and people who are committed to taking the breed in the right direction. I hope I can be one of them. I want to do my part for the vitality and future of the breed.
The future is still open, but if all goes well, the first litter under my kennel name might be born in 2027. I look forward to it with enthusiasm and excitement.
I am a member of the Finnish Kennel Club and completed the basic breeder's course in January 2025. I was granted a kennel name in June 2025. I am also a member of the Finnish Basset Club and Käyttöbassetit ry.
